About the crazy lady.

Nikki Maternity edit

My name is Nikki. I live in a small town in Arkansas. Together, Ben & I, have FOUR kids. We seem to have the living thing down sense we’re still living, but there is very little organization. Mostly chaos that seems to be self-inflicted. My grammar approach is similar to most people’s I guess, learned through 140-characters on my now-deleted Twitter and my witty comments on Facebook. I did take an advanced writing class in college, but the professor was my neighbor so I think that’s why I got an A. I’m starting this blog as a forum for my thoughts. I figure if I can’t write well enough to start a journal (that’s partly remembering to write in a journal thing) that maybe I could type something on a blog. I mean everyone is a blogger. Basically I’m just like everyone else. Just slightly jaded. But I am blessed. I have been doused in grace and thankful for Jesus.

I guess I should mention why I chose ravingsofakindmomma as a blog name.

1) I’ll start w/ “ravings:” To pick a blog name is weird. Like, you want it to suit you, but then you don’t want it to be boring. Then

you want it to kind of give an impression of what the blog is about, but what if the blog changes all the time? If you try to be funny, like me, then you want people to see humor in it, but at the same time I’m not all that funny so I don’t want to give a false impression. Can you kind of see where “ravings” come in? Good.

2) “ofakind:” I could have used spaces, but that would be no fun. Also, calling yourself kind is similar to calling yourself humble…right? If you say, “I’m the most humble person I know.” You’ve just eliminated any sense of humility you have, right? My manner of thinking on calling myself kind, is kind of like telling yourself you can wait to go pee when you are DYING at the beginning of your street. You keep saying, “I can wait, I got this, I’ve never peed my pants (as an adult) before…” basically, I’m faking it till I make it. Boom.

3) “momma:” I don’t think I need to elaborate on this much. I will say, momma is MY word for MY momma. I don’t like it when I hear other people call their MOMs this. End.
